This 2022 Nur Ein entry's title got me thinking about some of the people who get deified in our current very online culture and our parasocial relationships with those people. It's no surprise when I see stories of folks with large online followings who turn out to have contempt for their fans and be driven mostly by naked avarice. Success and popularity do weird things to human minds, especially for people who devote themselves to seeking out success and popularity.
