about

Fun-A-Day is a creative exercise in which folks around the world make art every day in January. I've been doing it every year since 2016. For 2022 I decided to make live instrumental electronic jams using some synthesizers and effects, and stream both the creation and performance of those jams live on YouTube and Facebook. For each stream, I would start from scratch, develop and sequence parts on the synths, and plan out a composition. Then I would start recording and perform the jam, triggering the sequences on the synths and adjusting their settings and effects over time. This album is a compilation of some of my favorite tracks that I made. I think they create a driving rhythmic sci-fi soundscape that's great to zone out to. The album art is an experiment in making art programmatically using JavaScript.

Equipment used:
Korg volca beats
Korg volca bass
Korg volca keys
Korg monotron delay
Kort NTS-1
Roland SH-101
tc electronics Hall of Fame reverb
tc electronics Flashback X4 delay
tc electronics Honey Pot fuzz
electro-harmonix Holy Grail Nano reverb
MXR carbon copy analog delay

If you want to watch recordings of the live streams you can find them on this YouTube playlist, and each stream has a marker so you can skip the creation process and go straight to the live jam performance if you'd like:
